Will launch in Q1 2016 in Malaysia.
Paultan reader, Farizul Jaafer, has caught the 2016 Proton Perdana (facelift) testing with the usual body camouflage. The flagship model has already been teased and partially revealed at an event last October.
The previous Proton Perdana, a rebadged Honda Accord, was reserved only for government officials while the new model, with a complete new design and interior, will also be sold to the public. It is 150 mm longer than the outgoing model, and features a comprehensive facelift that includes teardrop-shaped glasshouse, shark-fin antenna, boot-lid spoiler, prominent wheel arches, and angular styling for the head and tail lamps and front fender vents.
The 2016 Perdana will continue being based on the Honda Accord, and would retain Honda’s R20A3 2.0-litre engine that produces 154 hp of maximum power and 189 Nm peak torque, as well as the K24Z2 2.4-litre i-VTEC motor with 177 hp and 222 Nm. Both variants will be offered with a five-speed automatic transmission.
It will be manufactured at Proton’s Medium Volume Factory in Shah Alam, along with the Exora MPV.
