A set of subtly revised bumpers, new inner detailing for headlamps and tail lamps (with new front DRLs), and a new design for alloy wheels, round up the exterior upgrades on the 2016 Mercedes CLA Class. Consequently, the 2016 CLA Shooting Brake will not have the optional bi-xenon headlights, as the Multibeam LEDs will be installed as a replacement.

The same set of 4-cylinder petrol and diesel engines will continue to be seen on the CLA facelift, including two 1.6-litre tubrocharged petrol motors, one 2.0-litre petrol engine, and two versions of the 2.1-litre diesel unit featuring a 7 PS output hike. A new manual transmission for the CLA 250 variants are likely (from the A 250) while a launch assist feature would come on variants equipped with the seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
