Launch pushed back to end of this year.
According to Overdrive, Hyundai India could push back the launch of the 2016 Hyundai Tucson from September (rumored) to the end of this year. So far, Hyundai is yet to confirm a launch date of the mid-size 5-seat SUV in India.
Overdrive believes that the Hyundai Tucson could cannibalize the sales of the new 2016 Hyundai Elantra, which is also expected to launch in September. Given that SUVs are more popular in the market and the two models could be closely priced, Hyundai could give the new Elantra some time to establish itself in the market before launching its SUV sibling.
Both models will be assembled locally with CKD kits at good localization levels, thus allowing Hyundai to price them competitively. Reports suggest that the Tucson could be priced between INR 17-22 lakhs, while the Elantra's prices are expected to range between 12-18 lakh (both ex-showroom).

Unlike the Elantra, Hyundai had revealed the Tucson to the Indian public at the Auto Expo 2016 this February. It could pack a 2.0-liter (1,995 cc) CRDi engine available in power outputs of 136 PS and 184 PS, and with 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions.
