Made its debut in Korea as Hyundai Santa Fe Prime.
The 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe has made its European debut at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. The facelifted model was launched as the Santa Fe Prime in Korea this year,
The new Santa Fe receives a new six-point three-slat chrome grille, elongated headlamps with xenon projector units and LED DRLs, redesigned bumper, fog lamps with chrome surrounds and an LED strip. The sides retain the flared wheel arches, prominent shoulder line and an upswept beltline finishing at the D-pillar. The rear fascia remains the same as before save for the new LED graphic.
The interior has received revisions in the form of the center console and the Audio Visual Navigation (AVN) system. In a bid to get the interior looking more contemporary, Hyundai has updated the cockpit with new materials and colours. The AVN system now combines DAB digital radio and Infinity Premium Surround Audio system with 12 speakers having output of 630 watts.
Engines powering the 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe are two diesel and one petrol engines conforming to Euro 6 emission standards. The diesel engines are the 2.0- and 2.2-liter CRDi units – the entry level 2.0-liter unit produces 150 PS and 400 Nm of torque, and has a claimed combined fuel efficiency of 48 mpg (16.99 kmpl) with carbon emission of 154 g/km.
The more powerful 2.2-liter diesel unit churns out 200 PS and 440 Nm of peak torque output. It is claimed to deliver a combined fuel average of 46.3 mpg (16.39 kmpl) with a carbon output of 161 g/km.
The 2.4-liter four cylinder petrol unit has output figures of 188 PS and 241 Nm with a combined fuel consumption of 30 mpg (10.62 kmpl). It gives out 218 g/km of CO2.
Only the 2.0-liter diesel does not have the option of a 6-speed automatic transmission; it is coupled with a 6-speed manual. All other engines can be spec'd with the 6-speed manual or automatic gearboxes. However, all engines have the choice of getting a front- or four-wheel drivetrain.
The 2016 Santa Fe will feature many active safety and comfort features such as autonomous emergency braking, rear-cross traffic alert, smart cruise control, blind spot detection, around view monitor, lane change assist and high beam assist in the higher variants.
