Inherits elements and features from the all-new 7 Series.
The interior of the 2016 BMW 5 Series (codename - BMW G30) has been revealed through spyshots of a test mule, showing some finer details of the dashboard and the equipment. It is to be noted that there are a lot of similarities to the all-new BMW 7-Series (G11/G12).

The steering wheel, AC controls and the free-standing centre console display of the G30 closely resemble those on the new (sixth generation) 7 Series. It is reported that more hardware will be shared with the 7er, including the smart touchscreen key fob with remote parking feature, ambient light and fragrance air system, Apple CarPlay, Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system, a Wifi hotspot, and a wireless phone charging station.

It is likely that the seventh generation 5 Series will get a reconfigurable instrument cluster which will comprise of a 12.3-inch screen that shows different gauges while in driving in different modes. The executive sedan would also get a new iDrive system with touchscreen and gesture-based input and functions, as a standard feature.
The 2016 BMW 5 Series is slated for global debut in the summer of 2016 in Europe.
