Lighter by 100 kg over the current A4.
The 2016 Audi A4, part of its global testing program, was spied on Indian roads by a TeamBHP member recently. The new generation A4 will have its global debut shortly before the Frankfurt Motor Show (which takes place in September) this year, Audi's head of technical development, Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, told Indian Autos Blog.
Based on the new MLB Evo platform, the new A4 is reported to come with weight savings of 100 kg over its predecessor, and will also debut a new 2.0-liter TFSI engine with a power output of 190 PS. Similar to its predecessors, it will get a revolutionary styling with L-shape headlight enclosures, a Singleframe grille and A3-like taillight clusters.
Spyshots have shown the interior of the new A4 to get a Q7-like layout with a Virtual Cockpit display, a high-end music system and a stubby gearlever resembling an aircraft throttle. Audi is reported to offer nearly 13 engine options on the new A4 at the time of launch, with displacements varying from 1.4-liter TFSI to a 3.0-liter TDI. The Multitronic CVT gearbox will also be replaced by a 9-speed automatic transmission, reports have indicated.
