To launch today.

The Bajaj Avenger 220 Street has been snapped at a dealership just an hour before launch. IAB has learnt that it will launch along with the 220 Cruise variant and that the third Avenger model (possibly a 150 cc version) will not be introduced today.

It remains to be seen if Bajaj has tweaked the 220 cc unit.

The Avenger 220 Street is highly reminiscent of the Harley Davidson Street 750, with the full black theme including the 12-spoke black alloy wheels. This is the first time the Bajaj Avenger will be offered with alloy rims. The other components that are finished in black are the engine assembly, the exhaust pipe, the new handlebar, the centre console on top of the fuel tank, and the pillion grab handle.

Further changes compared to the outgoing model of Avenger include, a new handlebar clamp (which is also coated in black) bearing an 'Avenger' engraving, and a new analog speedometer that contains a small digital display for the trip meter and odometer readings, and a blue-backlit Bajaj logo at its centre.

A 220 Cruise variant with spoke wheels will also launch today.

The Avenger 220 Street continues to be powered by the 220 cc single-cylinder air-cooled DTS-i engine with an oil-cooler. The power and torque specifications are yet to be revealed. If unaltered, the output would be 19.03 PS at 8,400 rpm and 17.5 Nm at 7,000 rpm. No change in the 5-speed gearbox is expected.
