The Sahara is a no-nonsense hardcore off-roader.
Jeep has showcased the Wrangler Unlimited Sahara edition at the 2015 Chengdu Motor Show (CDMS 2015).
The Sahara is a four-door version of the classic Wrangler and the design is basically the same that you have seen on these models since the last decade. The front gets the round headlamps and the signature 7-slot grille, round foglamps embedded in the bumper and a snap on system for the bonnet.
The sides get the massive wheel covers, grey footboards, ‘Unlimited’ badging on the front fender, 16-inch wheels and a contrasting black roof. The rear features the squarish taillights and a split tail gate having the spare wheel mounted on the lower section of the door.
The interiors see fabric seats (heated at front), three-spoke steering wheel and a basic dashboard layout. The center console gets the Uconnect 130 system placed at the top having CD, MP3 and Aux-in compatibility. Below that are the AC vents and rotary dials to control the temperature with automatic climate control coming as optional equipment along with the Alpine premium audio system.
Power for the Unlimited Sahara comes from a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine that produces 285 bhp and 352.5 Nm of peak torque output. Power is transferred to the standard four-wheel drive system through a 6-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed automatic gearbox.
Jeep is planning to enter India next year with the Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee models.
