Datsun is now offering a driver-side airbag on the Go hatchback and the Go+ MPV in the Indian market. The driver-side airbag is seen on a new top-end variant called the T (O), on these cars. The Datsun Go T (O) is priced at INR 4.19 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi, while the Go+ T (O) costs INR 4.81 lakhs.

The Go and the Go+ are powered by a 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine.

Compared to the T variant which is devoid of any airbags, the T (O) represents a price increase of INR 15,000. There are no further changes to this variant though. It continues to come with body-colored bumpers, wheel covers, a speed-sensitive wiper, AC and heater, front power windows, front speakers with an AUX-in port, USB charger and a mobile-phone holder, and central locking.

The Go and Go+ are powered by a 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine capable of 68 PS and matched to a 5-speed manual transmission. The Go is rated at 20.63 km/l while the Go+ returns a claimed 20.6 km/l.

According to reports, the company is also working on fitting ABS on its cars.

The Go came under the spotlight in November last year, when it failed the crash test set by the Global NCAP. Further, Global NCAP released a statement highlighting the weak structure of the car, and termed it “pointless” to fit an airbag.
