According to a report on Autocar UK, Land Rover is preparing a 7-seat SUV that will fill a potential gap between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport. The vehicle is referred to as the 'Evoque Plus' purely because Land Rover engineers are using a hacked, extended bodyshell of the Evoque to test out the mechanicals.
However, the SUV in question will have little to do with the Evoque as the report says it will be based on the aluminium-intensive iQ architecture, which forms basis for the Jaguar XE and the forthcoming Jaguar F-Pace SUV. Autocar says that the new Land Rover will be a sister model of the F-Pace, but will feature a longer wheelbase to accommodate a third row of seats.
Where the F-Pace will be road oriented, the 'Evoque Plus' will offer a mix of Land Rover and Range Rover's brand values: Practicality, cross-country drivability and luxury. All-wheel drive will be a standard fitment on this model.
Power will come from the new Ingenium engine family of four-cylinder petrol and diesel motors. Prices will range from 40,000 to 65,000 pounds (INR 36.52 to 59.35 lakhs), with the top-end variant getting V6 engines.
Since the Evoque Plus is based on the iQ architecture, it will most likely share its production lines with the XE and the F-Pace, which are announced to enter production at JLR's Solihull facility.

When the Evoque was initially launched, Land Rover was aiming annual sales of 35,000 units, but ended up catering to 125,000 orders. The company hopes that the forthcoming model will shift sales in a similar manner thanks to its added practicality.
