Update - 1
Here are more teaser images of the new Jaguar XF that have been cropped from the interior teaser picture.
Will be based on an all new aluminum platform.
Jaguar has finally dropped a couple of teasers of the next generation XF mid-size sedan, ahead of its public debut at the 2015 New York Auto Show.
One of the teasers reveals the top view of the next Jaguar XF, which now looks less curvaceous and more refined than before, as seen in previous spyshots. The design seems to mash the best features of the larger XJ with the smaller XE, as seen in the new C-Pillar; sculpted front hood; upright front fascia; and flared rear wheel arches. The teaser also depicts a subtle spoiler on the boot, wider rear windshield with a long third LED brake light strip, and bigger glass housing for the sunroof.
Jaguar has also revealed the dashboard design of the next XF which, similar to the exterior, also combines the design cues of Jaguar's current range. The dashboard design is nearly similar to the outgoing XF, which houses a larger touchscreen display powered by JLR's latest InControl infotainment software. The central HVAC vents will now be fixed above the display, while the driver and passenger side vents will retain the cool rotating motion.
The center console design looks identical to the smaller XE, which now adds a sense of refinement over the previous design. The instrument cluster is a TFT display with a new graphic design, while other familiar additions include an F-Type inspired three-spoke steering wheel, and an XJ-esque wood trim that runs in a continuous line from the door panels across the top of the dashboard.
The new XF will be based on Jaguar's aluminium-intensive architecture, which - as the brand claims - will set segment benchmarks for weight and efficiency.
The engine lineup will include the ‘Ingenium’ range of engines, which JLR debuted on the XE last year. With the lightweight architecture, Jaguar believes that the next XF will offer class leading fuel economy figures of over 25 kmpl. The "S" variant is sure to feature a 3.0-liter V6 supercharged petrol, while future high performance variants could be offered with the bigger 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine.
