A test prototype of the 2015 Land Rover Freelander was caught testing in India recently. The car was caught then with European number plates somewhere in Trivandrum, Kerala.
Today, there is another spyshot of the 2015 Land Rover Freelander. This car was caught testing by Robin M Das and was posted onto the Facebook fan page of 'Exotics and Imports spotted in Kerala'. The car seems to be testing near the city of Trivandrum.
However, as you may have noticed, the number plate of this test mule is registered to the state of Kerala. That seems strange, but not something we're focussing on.
What we're focussing on is that the car is testing in Trivandrum. In the last post, we told you that Tata has an engineering center in the city called the 'Tata Elxsi Research and Development Center'. This vertical focuses on supporting automobiles for embedded software, hardware and systems. This makes us think that Land Rover has sought the help of its parent company for some vital software bits.
The next generation Freelander would be based on a stretched Evoque platform (which in turn is based on the old Ford Mondeo) and could even feature options of five and seven seats. It has also been reported that the car would be a part of the 'Discovery' family. It is expected sometime in late 2014.
