CG MotoCorp, TVS Motors' official distributor in Nepal, has launched the TVS Jupiter scooter in the country for a price of NPR 157,900 (Rs 98,600.)
The TVS Jupiter is powered by a 110 cc EcoThrust engine that develops 8 bhp at 7,500 rpm and produces peak torque of 8 Nm at 5,500 rpm. The scooter gets its fuel-filling slot positioned behind the rear seat, freeing up the under seat storage to 17 liters.
The same 110 cc engine also does duty on the TVS Wego and the recently launched TVS Star City+. The engine has been tuned to develop more power for the Jupiter compared to the Wego, and delivers the maximum output for the Star City+.
TVS at sells most of its Indian portfolio in Nepal, including the TVS Flame - branded as the TVS Flame SR 125 - which is not sold in India. At present, the TVS Sport and TVS Star City+ aren't sold in Nepal.
For the year ended March 2014, TVS registered a flat sales of 19.93 lakh units as compared to the 19.95 lakh units sold in 2013. While motorcycle sales fell from 7.86 lakh units to 7.56 lakh units, scooter sales was on the rise as it hit 4.74 lakh units from 4.46 lakh units a year ago.
