Indian Autos Blog reader, Mr. Kumar, caught the 2014 Yamaha FZ-S on test recently. The updated FZ-S looks very similar to the current model, though Yamaha have made minor tweaks to its design. A concept previewing the 2014 FZ-S was shown at the Auto Expo last month.
The most significant design update is towards the rear of the motorcycle, where the design of the taillight is much more sharper than the current model. As a result, the design of the registration plate enclosure and the mudguard has also been revised. The concept FZ-S also hinted that an air-inlet could be positioned just below the fuel tank of the bike.
The FZ-S is currently powered by an air-cooled, 153 cc single-cylinder engine producing 14 PS of power at 7,500 rpm and 13.6 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. While the same engine could very well continue, a media report states that Yamaha engineers could tweak the engine to offer more power, either by means of reboring the cylinder, or by using a fuel-injection system.
The motorcycle is available in a choice of five body colors, and we expect the company to either introduce newer colors, or alter the body graphics. The updated 2014 FZ-S should have its launch by the end of this year.
