While Land Rover has been gently teasing the 2014 Range Rover Sport using video clips and photographs in the run up to its unveiling, we knew that leaks to put an end to the agony were just around the corner.
To prove us right, here are the first undisguised images of the 2014 Range Rover Sport, a full two weeks ahead of its global premiere at New York, leaked on a Facebook page.
To differentiate the sporty variant from the regular Range Rover, the 2014 Sport comes with a front fascia featuring a more prominent grille, slender dark-tint headlamps, new location for the foglights with dedicated enclosures, and a lower intake shaped in a sporty fashion. Other highlights are the clamshell hood, front fenders with louvers, new wheels and a profile that cannot be mistaken for a BMW or an Audi.
Moving to the rear fascia, here we see a complete overhaul in design. The expression is a lot sportier with overtones of the Evoque's design theme creeping into the revised tailgate that appears stubbier and the taillights that extend into the rear fenders. The exposed twin exhaust tips and scuff plate are unique features to the Sport.
As we reckoned in past blog posts to relay spyshots and artist renders, the new Sport looks like an enlarged Evoque.
At this point we're expecting three engine options from the Range Rover lineup to be carried over into the Sport, in the following tuning states -
- 3.0-liter LR-TDV6 with 255 hp/600 Nm
- 4.4-liter LR-SDV8 with 335 hp/700 Nm
- 3.0-liter Supercharged V6 with 340 hp
- 5.0-liter Supercharged LR-V8 with 510 hp
The new Range Rover Sport makes its world premiere at the New York Auto Show on the 26th of March as the Big Apple is the world's biggest market for the Sport, and there's no better occasion one can think of to announce the new iteration.
