The Renault Captur which was launched at the Geneva Motor Show has been sighted on test for the first time in Brazil. According to Brazilian news reports, the Renault Captur would be available on the market next year, with simplifications to achieve a lower price.

According to local media reports, the Captur would be configured so that a lower target price is achieved.

The Captur would lock horns with slightly more upmarket crossovers such as the Chevrolet Tracker and the Peugeot 2008. The success of the Duster could have stimulated the move to bring in a Euro-spec crossover for the upper end of the B-segment.

Designed for the European cities, Captur was launched at the Geneva Motor Show.

The Captur was created to give compact car buyers in Europe the style of an SUV, the cabin space of a minivan and driving pleasure of a compact car. At 4.12 meters long, 1.77 meters wide and 1.57 meters tall, the Captur is in the same size class as the Nissan Juke and the Ford EcoSport. Riding on 16- or 17-inch alloys, the urban crossover provides a 200mm ground clearance.

The European crossover would compete with the Brazil-bound Nissan Juke and Peugeot 2008.

The model is powered by a 0.9L and a 1.2L TCe petrol engine churning out 90hp and 120hp respectively. The 120hp motor is reported as the leading contender for Brazil, matched to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The method of launch and exactly when the car would launch are not known at the point.
