Mercedes-Benz India Limited has started the local assembly of the 2014 Mercedes E Class at its Chakan plant, near Pune.
The recently launched sedan incorporates many new safety and luxury features including intelligent assistance systems. The front end design has been extensively modified to have a unified twin element headlamp unit. The overall design has been refined to keep the luxury sedan fresh.
On the inside the design is retained but the color scheme has been slightly revised. Powertrains also underwent minor tweaks to emerge more fuel efficient.
The business saloon is powered by a 2.0 litre petrol engine that puts out 181bhp and 300 Nm of torque. The diesel motor is a 2.2 litre unit which generates 201 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. Both the engines are mated to a 7-G DCT automatic transmission.
The E Class has been the most successful model for the German car maker in India with 23,000 units sold since its introduction. Globally, over 11 million units of the E Class have been sold.

In India too, the E-Class has been the most sold luxury sedan ever and hence, is a very important product in our portfolio, playing a vital role in the product strategy of Mercedes-Benz India.
The new Mercedes E Class starts Rs. 41.50 lakhs (Ex-showroom Delhi).
