Mercedes is working day-in and day-out to get its strategy right to overthrow BMW from the throne of the global luxury market.
A key aspect of its strategy is to introduce premium models in entry level segments.
The Mercedes CLA is one such path changing product for Mercedes. It will sit under the C Class to form the new entry sedan for the three-pointed star. Thanks to our friends at WorldCarFans, we bring you a clear spyshot of the CLA sedan testing in Germany, sent in by their reader Philippe Corgié.
The CLA will be based on the on the new MFA platform that underpins the A and B Class. It will be powered by the same powerplants that perform duties in the new A and B Class. The AMG variant will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged unit churning out 335 bhp.
The Mercedes CLA will have a price tag of around 20 lakhs and will compete against humdrum offerings such as Skoda Superb, Honda Accord, Hyundai Sonata etc. The Mercedes CLA will be launched in 2013 and will head to Indian shores soon after the same.
