The 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe has been spotted in Malaysia suggesting an impending launch in the country.

The Hyundai Santa Fe for Malaysia is not the extended wheelbase version that is on sale in the US.

The new Santa Fe is way ahead of its predecessor in terms of design. The SUV emerges as the best looking car in its segment, thanks to its "Strom Edge" design philosophy.

Paultan.org reports that the new Santa Fe would be launched in Malaysia by the end of June. Spyshots show that the initial shipment of the cars have already arrived.

The Santa Fe for the Malaysian market is powered by the 2.2 litre diesel engine which has 194 bhp on tap. The engine is the same unit that powers the current model. As it is, the Santa Fe is the most powerful SUV in its segment and Hyundai has decided not to re-look the outputs. For the Malaysian market, the engine will be mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

For now India can only enjoy the new Santa Fe through spyshots and press photographs.

Back in India, the current Santa Fe comes with both 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions and it remains to be seen whether the new car will also offer similar options.

While the Malaysians' wait for the new Santa Fe is almost over, it seems India has to wait a little longer. Hyundai India has been testing the Santa Fe for a very long time and have also conducted a few customer clinics. We don't have a hint about the launch, but hot spots Hyundai can use are the festival season of 2013 or Auto Expo 2014.
