2013 Hyundai Elantra gets sporty updates in South Korea; India debut on Aug 13
Ashwin Ram N P, Ashwin is a guy with a slightly unorthodox perception of everything. His struggle to choose a career path, between art and automotive engineering, has landed him in the field of auto journalism, where he has paved way for himself to practise both.
While India awaits the launch of the new fluidic Elantra, South Korea gets a revised version with sporty updates. The Hyundai Elantra has been on sale in South Korea for more than two years which is a long time for a Hyundai product to go without a facelift or a replacement.
As a result, the Elantra has been upgraded with minor changes on all three fronts – Exterior, Interior and Mechanicals.
2013 Hyundai Elantra exterior upgrades
- Super hot 17-inch wheels
- A new ‘Hazel Bronze’ color options
- LED tail lamps
- Tweaked windshield wipers
- Dark headlamp bezel
2013 Hyundai Elantra Interior upgrades
- Heated steering wheel
- Ventilated front seats
2013 Hyundai Elantra Mechanicals upgrades
- Upgraded VDC (Vehicle stability control) for high speeds
- Upgraded three-point rear seat belts
- Tweaked parking aid system
Considering these changes are very recent updates, we don’t expect the Elantra to carry them when launched in India.
It will be very interesting to see the pricing strategy of the Elantra. It needs to be higher than the Verna but at the same time, it should not cannibalize the Sonata.
Stay tuned, we will keep you updated on the prices.
