India Yamaha Motor has presented the Yamaha R15S and the disc brake variant of the Yamaha Saluto at the Auto Expo 2016 in Greater Noida. Both models are already on sale in India.
Yamaha R15S:
The R15S is the single, straight seat version of the Yamaha R15. It was developed in response to the customer feedback regarding the R15's pillion seat comfort. Apart from new seat, the R15S features new body graphics. The model is offered in three colours - Adrenalin Red, Spark Green and Track White.
There is no other change compared to the standard R15 with split seat. It is powered by the same 149.8 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with SOHC, that produces 17 PS at 8,500 rpm and 15 Nm at 7,500 rpm, mated to a 6-speed transmission. The Yamaha R15S is priced at INR 1.15 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Yamaha Saluto:
The standard Yamaha Saluto was launched in April 2015 and its front disc brake variant was introduced in July. The latter is available in four dual tone colours - Majestic Red, Dashing White, Glory Green and Bold Blue, while the drum brake version is offered in two monotone colours - Victory Red and Brave Black. The former is priced at INR 54,600 and the latter is priced at INR 52,100 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The commuter motorcycle is powered by a 125 cc air-cooled single-cylinder carbureted engine that produces 8.2 bhp at 7,000 rpm and 10.1 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm, paired with a 4-speed gearbox. The 112 kg bike has a claimed mileage of 78 km/l.
