Means 'Clay' in Galician language.
Iotomotif reports that the Yamaha M-Slaz is likely to be launched in Indonesia with a new brand name, which is rumored to be the Yamaha Xabre. The word Xabre is derived from Galician language (spoken in Glacia, Spain and Portugal) which means 'Clay'. Previous reports suggested that Yamaha would name the M-Slaz as MT-15 in some markets outside Thailand.
The Yamaha M-Slaz is the naked version of the Yamaha R15 like what the MT-25 and MT-03 are to the Yamaha R25 and the R3 respectively. But unlike the examples where the naked versions are derived from their respective super sport models, the M-Slaz is believed to spawn the next generation R15, namely the Yamaha R15 Version 3.0. The street fighter is expected to donate its LED headlamp, Up Side Down fork, fully-digital instrument console, and the like, to the next major iteration of the R15.
The M-Slaz is powered by the same engine as the existing R15 which is the 149 cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with a fuel injection system, SOHC and 4 valves, that is offered with a six-speed gearbox.

While the engine produces 17 PS at 8,500 rpm and 15 Nm at 7,500 rpm on the fully-faired model, the power and torque ratings of the motor on the M-Slaz are yet to be revealed by the company.
