Likely to be the Nozza Grande 125cc scooter.
Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd will be launching a new 125 cc scooter on May 7 in India, reports Motorbeam. The company has circulated invitations to the media teasing the front cowl of the scooter, but did not say anything more. The speculation is that it could be a locally adapted Nozza Grande (codenamed ‘04X’), which was spotted testing in India early this year.
The Nozza Grande was first launched in Vietnam in August last year for a price of 28.9 million Vietnamese Dong (INR 84,173).
It is powered by a 125cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine with fuel injection technology, with a mileage of 54 km/l. The scooter gets telescopic front forks and spring loaded rear shocks, and with disc brake up front.
The new scooter will be manufactured at Yamaha’s new factory in Chennai. As a new player in the upmarket 125cc scooter segment, the new Yamaha will compete with the likes of the Honda Activa 125, Vespa VX125, Suzuki Swish and Access, and Mahindra Rodeo. Expect the scooter to be priced at INR 55,000-65,000 (ex-showroom).
May 7 would mark the fourth scooter launch for Yamaha, following the 2015 Alpha, Ray, Ray Z scooter with ‘Blue Core’ engine technology introductions last month.
