Volvo V40 Cross Country which was showcased at the Paris Motor Show last month has entered production.
The V40 Cross country is built at the automaker's plant at Ghent, Belgium. The V40 Cross Country is essentially a high riding V40 hatchback with splashes of off road paraphernalia.
The mild crossover's ride height is raised by 40 mm compared to the hatchback. The car shows off its off road intentions by possessing a 173 mm of ground clearance and having silver coloured protection guards all around.
The front fascia looks butcher than the hatchback version with bigger honeycomb mesh in the grill and the bumper is shod with black cladding. The overall design of the car gives a feel that the V40 Cross Country is a miniature model of the XC60.
The wannabe SUV is powered by 2.4 litre turbocharged petrol engine which generates 259 bhp and is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine is available will all wheel drive system.
The other powertrain options will include a smaller petrol motor and a range of diesel engines that will power the front wheels.
The V40 Cross Country will be the entry level Volvo in India and the Swedish maker of safest cars is expected to bring this crossover to the sub-continent by March 2013.
