If you are a Chinese man, have lots of love for Volkswagen, in the market for an affordable sedan, the Volkswagen Lavida is your car.
Unlike the Vento, this Volkswagen sedan, positioned in the A-Segment (in terms of size class - usually between 4m to 4.5m long), is the Etios or the Manza of the Chinese market.
The Volkswagen Lavida has been around in China since 2008 and is built on the first gen Skoda Octavia platform (VW Group PQ34). The new model has a revised front end tweaked to resemble the Passat sold in America (NMS). Standard safety features include ABS, ESP and front airbags. The Lavida is an integration of Volkswagen's qualities and the culture and preference of the Chinese customer.
Volkswagen will provide three engine options on the Lavida. They are yet to provide detailed information on this model, so we'll keep an eye out for it in the future.
