TVS Motor Company has introduced the Star HLX 125 motorcycle in Tanzania. The TVS Star HLX 125 has been developed with needs of the African market in mind.
The bike is based on the TVS Max 4R that is available in India but ditches the 110 cc engine in favor of a 125 cc 'EcoThrust' unit. Power output stands at 11 hp and the automaker claims a fuel economy of 60 km/l.
TVS is promoting the motorcycle as the "Ultimate Earning Machine" as it targets the popular Boda Boda (two-wheeler taxi) segment in the country. The Star HLX 125 is claimed to offer best financial returns to the Boda Boda riders.
The low cost bike is equipped with an electric starter, alloy wheels, long seat and interestingly, a third pair of integrated foot rests. Two color options namely Flame Red and Polyester Blue are available.
TVS has been exporting its products to over 60 countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. The brand has built up presence in the African continent with models such as the Star, Max, Victor, Apache RTR and Jive.
In related news, TVS has launched a new motorcycle in Indonesia called the Max 125 which is basically the Star City with the Phoenix's 125 cc engine.
