TVS Motor Company has finally launched the ABS version of the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V. The motorcycle costs INR 1,07,485, ex-showroom Delhi. It is available only in the carburettor variant.
The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V ABS is available both with Remora tyres and Pirelli tyres. The variant with the stickier Pirelli rubber cost INR 5,000 more over the Remora tyre variant. The ABS unit is dual-channel and comes with Rear Wheel Lift-off Protection (RLP) control, which as per TVS, ‘Offers quick detection and recovery of the wheel-lock and achieves higher dynamic stability through precise close-loop slip control.’

The Hosur-based brand has developed the ABS unit through extensive research on the race track. They have tuned the system for both high and low friction surfaces for optimal control. Visually, the ABS variant looks similar to the non-ABS variant, but has a distinct ABS sticker on the right side of the front fender.
On the powertrain front, it is the same as the non-ABS variant. The 197.75 cc single cylinder mill is good for 20.5 PS at 8,500 rpm; and a torque of 18.1 Nm at 7,000 rpm. The engine mates with a 5-speed gearbox. Brakes include 270 mm front and 240 mm rear petal discs. The RTR 200 4V ABS is the only bike in the 200 cc segment with dual-channel ABS. It rivals the newly unveiled Hero Xtreme 200R, Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 and KTM 200 Duke.
