Ford will soon start the local production of the EcoSport in China where it'll be launched in early 2013, a few weeks ahead of its Indian introduction.
Seen here are the pictures of the made-in-China EcoSport.
The EcoSport for China is built by Chang'an-Ford joint venture which also builds the Ford Fiesta and Ford Focus. The expected price of the mini SUV in China is 1,00,000 yuan (around Rs. 8.6 lakhs).
Ford India's President and Managing Director Mr. Michael Boneham assured IndianAutosBlog.com that the EcoSport is coming to India in first quarter of 2013 although he declined to be more specific. He told us last week that the sub four metre SUV will be launched aggressively and will be the second of the eight new products Ford has announced for India by mid-decade.
The construction work on the new engine and assembly plant that is coming up at Sanand, Gujarat is on the full swing with 3,000 people working to get the factory on stream by 2014. The new plant will enable Ford India to complete the launch of six new products, details of which are foggy as of now (next gen Ka siblings, B-Max, new Endeavour and Focus expected to be in the mix)
The EcoSport will be available in India with the path breaking 1.0 litre EcoBoost turbo petrol engine, a normally aspirated petrol engine and a turbo diesel engine. The diesel engine and the normally aspirated petrol engine are expected to be the 1.5 litre units that are employed by the Ford Fiesta.
