Toyota Kirloskar Motor plans to launch two products in May this year. While the first is an all-new product (the 2014 Corolla), the second which is the Toyota Etios Cross, is more of a variant extension.
The Etios Cross is benefitted from tough-looking bumpers with plastic cladding, roof rails, diamond-cut alloy wheels and silver skid guards in a bid to make it look more appealing to the unknowing 'crossover' buyer. Toyota plans to leverage with the Etios Cross for the time being, as it does not have a small crossover product in its Indian portfolio.
While the launch of the Etios Cross is scheduled in May, dealers across India have started accepting bookings for the car. In these images, we can see that early demo/display units have started shipping to dealers as well.
The Etios Cross will be offered with three engine options. Starting the range is a 1.2-liter four-cylinder petrol producing 80 PS at 5,600 rpm and 104 Nm of torque at 3,100 rpm. Next up is a 1.5-liter petrol capable of producing 90 PS at 5,600 rpm and 132 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm.
The diesel variant will be powered by a 1.4-liter motor developing 68 PS at 3,800 rpm and 170 Nm of torque between 1,800-2,400 rpm. All engines are offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
