Top 10 selling two-wheelers in October 2018: Splendor to Platina

October witnessed Hero MotoCorp breach the 7,00,000 sales mark for the fourth occasion in the current fiscal. The month also saw the Yamaha YZF-R15 year-on-year sales jump by 231 per cent. In this post, we list the top-selling two-wheelers (motorcycles and scooters combined) in October 2018.

The Hero Splendor, HF Deluxe and Bajaj CT were the top selling motorcycles in October 2018. The Honda Activa was once again the highest selling scooter in the country, followed by the TVS Jupiter.

The Hero MotoCorp Splendor outran the Honda Activa to become the highest selling two-wheeler in the country for the second consecutive month. Splendor witnessed a 24 per cent jump in year-on-year sales for October (2,15,631 vs 2,68,377) while the Activa registered a one per cent growth against the corresponding month last year (2,59,071 vs 2,62,260). The HF Deluxe continued to hold the third spot from September while the TVS Jupiter, with sales of 1,02,132, rose from the fifth position to fourth. Bajaj’s highest selling product for the month was the CT100 that clocked 93,676 units in October.

Honda’s highest selling motorcycle, the CB Shine, which stood at ninth position in September, came sixth on the list with 91,319 unit sales. Bajaj’s Pulsar range clocked the targeted sales as the motorcycle brand crossed the 90,000 sales mark to secure the seventh spot on the list. Of the 90,363 units sold in October 2018, 63,957 units came from the 150cc variants of the Pulsar range. Hero Passion and Glamour followed the Pulsar range while the Bajaj Platina completed the list.

Special mention goes to the Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 that continued its upward trajectory and registered a 231 per cent growth in year-on-year sales. Yamaha sold 15,008 units of the YZF-R15 against 4,539 units in the corresponding month of 2017. The sales of the YZF-R15 have been consistently high since its launch in February 2018.

Honda sold 2,62,260 units of the Activa in October. During the same time, TVS Jupiter crossed the one lakh mark, clocking 1,02,132 units.

November is also expected to deliver positive sales numbers, as it was the peak of the festive season. Bajaj Auto extended its 5-5-5 offer to make the most of the festive season demand and extended the benefits until November 20. The offer is now valid till December 31, although with revised benefits.
