Launches on March 28.
NDTV Auto has posted some photos of the Tata Tiago at a dealership in Delhi ahead of its launch on March 28. Unveiled late last year as the Tata Zica the model was presented at the Auto Expo 2016 before it was given the new name last month. Dealerships are accepting bookings for the Tiago for a deposit of INR 10,000.
Set to compete with the Maruti Celerio, Mahindra KUV100 (on price), Hyundai i10, Chevrolet Beat and Nissan Micra Active, the Tata Tiago will be offered in petrol and diesel versions both of which are powered by newly developed engines.
The petrol version gets the 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron motor that produces 84 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 114 Nm 3,500 rpm. The diesel uses the 1.05-litre three-cylinder Revotorq engine that develops 69 bhp at 4,000 rpm and 140 Nm at 1,800-3,000 rpm. Both engines will initially be offered only with five-speed manual transmissions. AMT variants would be introduced later.
The salient features on the Tata Tiago include the Multidrive mode introduced on the Tata Zest, a Harman touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth, USB and AUX connectivities and MayMyIndia navigation support, steering mounted audio controls, ABS, dual front airbags, height adjustable driver-seat, and electrically adjustable wing mirrors.
