Suzuki is making hefty plans for the Auto Expo 2014, with news of a new scooter and a motorcycle to make its debut being reported by Autocar Professional.
The company, the site reports, has developed an all-new scooter powered by a fresh four-stroke, single-cylinder 110 cc engine with maximum output of around 7 or 8 hp. The scooter will compete head on with the biggies of the 110 cc segment like the Honda Activa, TVS Wego, TVS Jupiter, Yamaha Ray and Hero Maestro.
The report quotes an industry insider saying that Suzuki has been developing this scooter for some time now and that it is in the production-ready phase.
Suzuki, at present, offers scooters only in the 125 cc segment, with both the Suzuki Swish and the Suzuki Access making use of the same engine. With a majority of the volumes in the 110 cc segment, Suzuki is looking to make some quick inroads. Meanwhile, not satisfied with leading the 110 cc scooter pack, Honda is readying its offering in the less competitive 125 cc segment. This scooter is expected to be unveiled at the Auto Expo 2014.
As for its motorcycle, it is believed that the Suzuki Hayate will go in for a refresh. The report says that the Hayate will get both a mechanical and cosmetic upgrade.
