Maruti Suzuki has announced that the sales of the second-gen Ertiga which it had launched in November 2018 have crossed 61,000 units. The Ertiga is India’s best-selling MPV and its sales averages at about 8,000 a month. That is a direct 60% growth in comparison to the corresponding months of the previous year.
Just days before announcing the second-gen Ertiga's sales milestone, Maruti Suzuki gave it a CNG variant. Priced at INR 8.88 lakh*, it is based on the VXI trim of the regular model and costs almost INR 71,000 more than the petrol variant, which retails at INR 8.16 lakh*. For active pick-up and superior drivability, the Ertiga CNG comes with dual ECU (engine control unit) with intelligent-gas port injection system. It features an Auto-Fuel switch which instantly triggers the fuel operation change.
The Maruti Ertiga's CNG variant employs the K15B 1.5L petrol engine without a mild-hybrid system. This engine delivers 77 kW (104.69 PS) and 138 Nm running on regular petrol mode and 68 kW (92.45 PS) and 122 Nm in the CNG mode. The transmission duties are done by a standard 5-speed manual transmission. The fuel economy rating (CNG) is 26.20 km/kg.
Initially, the second-gen Maruti Ertiga was available with only the K15B 1.5L petrol engine featuring a dual-battery mild-hybrid system and coupled to a 5-speed MT or a 4-speed MT, the D13A 1.3L diesel engine paired with a 5-speed MT and the E15A 1.5L diesel engine linked to a 6-speed MT. The prices of the latest model start at INR 7,44,689* and go up to INR 11,20,689*.
