The new E Class will be unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2013 and here is one more rendering of the luxury saloon. The car has undergone many subtle design refinements and reportedly, everything except the front doors and the roof has been redesigned. However, the new E Class doesn't change its appearance radically.
The first major change to catch the eye will be the headlamps, the E Class' signature twin lamp units are now amalgamated into a single large housing with integrated daytime running lights. The redesigned bumper houses a trough shaped air dam with interesting details.
Though there are few subtle changes in the curves and bends on the sheet metal, the rear of the car looks the same, save for the reprofiled tail lamp elements.
The interiors remain largely the same except for the new three spoke steering wheel and a new instrument binnacle. The new Merc is coming with a fresh set of electronic gadgets like an advanced night driving assistant, dynamic light assistant, intelligent lane assistant, congestion assistant, magic ride assistant (adaptive suspension) and Car to X communication which has the ability to interact with the nearby vehicles.
The current lineup of powertrains with improvements will continue to power the E Class and a rumour suggests that there could be a a 1.6 litre diesel motor developed by Renault at the entry level variant. The motor generates around 130PS at a very low emission level. At the other end of the spectrum sits the monumental 5.5 V8 petrol engine on the AMG variant.
The E Class saloon will enter the scene in the second quarter of 2013 with its entire entourage which will include the Coupe, Cabriolet and the AMG beast.
