Renault is showcasing the Renault Twingo GT at the 2016 Bologna Motor Show. The GT variant is now on sale in first markets.
The Renault Twingo GT's sportier look is inspired by the Renault Twin'Run concept car introduced back in 2013. On the outside, the Twingo GT features GT Pack with front and lateral skirting, wing flares and rear diffuser; twin exhaust pipes with chrome-finish, NACA aircraft-inspired stripes on the bonnet and roof and Twin’Run 17-inch wheels fitted with Yokohama BluEarth tyres.
The Renault Twingo GT sees a number of mechanical changes for a spirited driving. The chassis has been fine-tuned by the Renault Sport teams, there are new shock absorbers which have been combined with original springs, but with an increased calibration, the anti-roll bar is a larger diameter version, the ESP has been recalibrated, engine's turbocharger rotation has been increased and the exhaust system has been specially designed and is fitted with a twin-exhaust silencer.
The Renault Twingo GT's 0.9-litre TCe 110 S&S engine produces 80 kW (109 bhp) at 5,750 rpm and 170 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. In place of the air intake that was originally located above the wheel arch, the GT variant has a special air intake on the rear left-hand wing. This modification has been done to improve engine performance; it helps reduce the temperature of the air entering the turbocharger by around 12%.
Inside, the Renault Twingo GT features Renault Sport-badged door sills, aluminium pedals, a zamac gear lever knob and orange trim on leather-fabric upholstery, the centre position on the steering wheel, the air vents and the base of the gear lever. The Renault Twingo GT's signature exterior colour is Piment Orange, but it can be specified in Lunar Grey, Deep Black and Glacier White as well. In France, the GT variant is priced from €17,000 (INR 12,43,541.5).
