Goodwood Festival of Speed opens on 23 June.
Following the Smart Brabus trio's unveil at Auto China 2016 (2016 Beijing Motor Show), it's now Renault's turn to introduce sport variants of its urban car Twingo, which is the former's mechanical twin. The French automaker has announced that it will introduce a more powerful variant of the Twingo at the Goodwood Festival of Speed to be held from 23 to 26 June.
The Smart Brabus rival will be called 'Renault Twingo GT' and have a sporty exterior inspired by the Renault Twin’Run concept.
The Renault Twingo GT gains little visual and performance enhancements over the standard Renault Twingo, and is certainly not a full-blown Renaultsport high-performance variant. It will be available in Lunaire Grey, Profond Black and Glacier White colours as well as a new Piment Orange colour. The GT variant can be recognized by the unique 17-inch wheels, lateral air intakes and twin exhaust tail pipe.

The Renault Twingo GT's 0.9-litre TCe turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine has been tuned to deliver 110 hp (+20 hp) and 170 Nm (+35 Nm) of torque. Renault hasn't mentioned which transmission it's using to channel the power to the rear wheels, but it should most certainly be the 5-speed manual from the standard variant. Furthermore, the suspension has been revised, the ESP has been calibrated and there's variable-rate steering, all to make the GT a peppy drive.
