Renault has teased the first official image of the Triber. The company will unveil the new MPV on the 19th of this month.
The Renault Triber is the brand’s first-ever entry-level MPV designed especially for India and such other emerging markets. Particular attention has been paid to the Indian market for this model, by ensuring that the length doesn’t exceed 4,000 mm, something that would otherwise increase the GST levied and increase the price.
The Renault Triber is a model from the Renault Kwid family. The front-end is somewhat resemblant of the entry-level hatchback. The teaser image shows the MPV featuring more aggressive headlamps, a larger V-shaped radiator grille, muscular hood with noticeable bulges and horizontal LED DRLs. Up top, the MPV has roof rails and a conventional pole antenna.
The Renault Triber will be based on the CMF-A platform of the Renault Kwid. It will be introduced with a more powerful (+7 hp) version of the A-segment hatchback’s 68 PS (67.07 hp) 1.0-litre SCe three-cylinder petrol engine. This naturally aspirated engine will be paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. Later, likely in 2020, 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine and 5-speed AMT options will be introduced.
In addition to LED DRLs, key features of the Renault Triber will include projector headlamps, touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and removable third-row seats. On the safety front, expect standard and available features to include ABS, rear parking sensors, speed warning system and rear parking camera.
