Renault has unveiled the India-made Renault Kwid Extreme at the ongoing Gaikindo Indonesian International Auto Show 2017 (GIIAS 2017). The Renault Kwid Extreme Study, as the badge reads, showcases the customizability of the model and points at a possible future variant.
As part of the Extreme makeover, the Kwid gains a new front bumper with grey inserts and red highlights complete with a splitter and sharp bumper extensions. Three square enclosure carry LED lights on each side arranged to mimic a chequered flag pattern, similar to what we will see on the 2018 Renault Megane RS. Towards the side, the bumper gets faux air intakes as well.
The grille including the Renault badge is devoid of chrome with just some red highlighting on the studs. Headlamps get LED detailing along with the addition of projector units. A thick carbon fibre finish runs across the roof and bonnet with red highlighting. The car is finished in the Ice Cool White shade.
Much like the front, the rear too gets a new bumper with red highlights and air intakes towards the side. Complementing the race car inspired exteriors are the air diffuser and the oversized spoiler at the back. The rear bumper also gets 'Extreme' badging. Other notable design elements include a chequered flag patterned side rub strip similar to Kwid 1.0, OZ Racing rims with low profile tires and red ORVM casing.
In stark contrast to the exterior, the cabin has been left untouched. Renault could have added bucket seats and a race harness to complete the racer look, similar to the treatment given to the Kwid Racer present at the 2016 Auto Expo.
In Indonesia, the Kwid is listed on the official website with a 1.0 SCe Petrol engine good for 68 PS and 91 Nm mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The price of the Renault Kwid in Indonesia starts from IDR 119,600,000.
