Launched at a base price of INR 2.56 Lakh.
Owing to the 98% localization and frugal engineering, Renault managed to price their all new sub-compact Renault Kwid at a starting price of INR 2.56 Lakh, while the top-end variant costs INR 3.53 Lakh (ex-showroom).
At 3.53 Lakhs, the Kwid comes with body-painted bumpers, wheel covers, a 7-inch MEDIANAV touchscreen display with Bluetooth and USB support, power windows in the front, driver's airbag and a digital instrument display, which is quite a bargain on paper. In fact, it's so well priced for its looks and features that the company has amassed 50,000 bookings in just five weeks since launch, says a report on Business Standard.
Under the hood is a 799 cc three-cylinder petrol engine capable of 54 PS at 5,678 rpm and 72 Nm of torque at 4,386 rpm. It is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, and is capable of an ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of 25.17 km/l. An AMT is under development and could be available on the Kwid by the end of 2016.
