Will be launched in India in October 2017.
Renault has finally revealed the emerging markets version of the Renault Captur – the Renault Kaptur. Contrary to speculations, the Kaptur is also a 5-seat crossover.
The Renault Kaptur is differentiated from the Renault Captur with a honeycomb mesh pattern grille, tweaked front bumper that incorporates C-shaped LED daytime running lights, bigger quarter glass and LED tail lights.
More importantly, the Renault Kaptur differs from the Renault Captur in dimensions. The Kaptur measures 4,333 mm in length, 1,813 mm in width (excluding door mirrors) and 1,613 mm in height, and compared to the Captur is 211 mm longer, 35 mm wider and 47 mm taller. The wheelbase has been stretched by 68 mm (from 2,606 mm) to 2,674 mm.
The bigger size not only improves cabin space, but also makes it look more of a crossover. Aiding the rugged stance and practicality is the ground clearance which stands at 204 mm. The approach and departure angles are measured at 20 degree and 31 degree respectively. The boot volume is 387 litres and can be increased to 1,200 litres by fully folding the rear seats.
Renault has confirmed that four-wheel drive system will be offered in Russia, but hasn't revealed the engine and transmission specifications. However, official images reveal that at least two transmissions would be available: a 6-speed manual transmission and an automatic transmission.
Other features of the Renault Kaptur include 16- or 17-inch alloy wheels, 60/40-split bench seats for the rear passengers, MEDIA NAV infotainment system with a 7-inch display and Bluetooth connectivity, Remote Engine Start system, heated front seats and a heated windshield.
The Renault Kaptur will go on sale in Russia in Summer 2016 (June-August 2016) and roll out of Renault's Moscow plant. Russian media reports say that the Renault Kaptur will be launched in other nations of the Eurasian Economic Union: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
As for the South American version, though nothing's official, the new crossover will reportedly be on showcase at the 2016 Sao Paulo International Motor Show in November and launch in Brazil in 2017. It is reported that in October 2017, the Indian launch will happen.
