The Renault Captur for India will be unveiled to the media this week. In the latest, IAB reader Alex Daniel has spotted a Renault Captur test mule next to a Maruti Swift in Chennai.
The Renault Captur will sell as the flagship Renault model in India. The premium compact SUV borrows its design from the European Renault Captur but is the Renault Kaptur with the former’s name. Underpinned by the Renault Duster’s platform, the Indian-spec Captur will likely sell with 110 PS 1.5-litre K9K diesel and 106 PS 1.5-litre H4K petrol engines from the Duster. Four-wheel drive option is expected at the top of the range, but Renault may take a phased strategy in the variant rollout, with the 2WD diesel MT arriving first.
The Indian-spec Renault Captur will feature Pure Vision full-LED headlights and dynamic turn signals, a first for a Renault in India. Exterior highlights will include C-shaped LED DRLs, 17-inch alloy wheels, tail lamps with LED light guides and two-tone paint scheme as well. Interior features should include body colour highlights on the air vents and centre console, cruise control, automatic climate control and touchscreen infotainment system with navigation. On the safety front, the Captur should have ABS, EBD, BA and four airbags.
Renault will produce the Captur in India at the Renault-Nissan Alliance facility in Oragadam. The Captur will have higher prices than the Duster, which starts from INR 8,42,500*, Sumit Sawhney, MD & CEO, Renault India has said. The media unveil will take place on 22 September 2017.
