A new VW compact SUV from the FAW-Volkswagen alliance was recently spied in China, courtesy autohome.com.cn. It will debut in China sometime next year.
Little is known about the new VW compact SUV seen here. According to the Chinese publication, it is a model that FAW-Volkswagen will position above the VW T-Roc. The future model’s exterior is hidden under the covers, but its interior is visible in the spy shots. Features like a 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel, black seat covers with contrasting white stitching, gloss black trim, analogue instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system and electronic parking brake are visible in the interior spy shots.
The new VW compact SUV is expected to ride on the MQB platform. FAW-Volkswagen could offer it with 1.4-litre TSI turbocharged petrol, 1.8-litre TSI turbocharged petrol and 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engines. Both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive variants could be offered.

The new VW compact SUV’s launch will take place in China in December 2018. Before that, the VW T-Roc will arrive in July 2018.
