2016 will see the company launch the new Innova and Fortuner.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) will not launch an all-new model in India this year, save for the Hiace people-mover. In an interview with the PTI, the company's Senior Vice-President & Director for Marketing and Sales, N Raja, confirmed that there wouldn't be any fresh launches this year.
Last year, TKM introduced mild facelifts for the Etios Liva and Etios sedan, entered the pseudo-crossover segment with the Etios Cross and introduced the new generation Corolla Altis in the market. However, for 2015, the company has announced plans to launch the Hiace in mid-2015, while an entry-level 2.5-liter variant on the Fortuner and a 3.0-liter 4x4 AT variant on the SUV were introduced last month.
Come 2016 though and TKM would launch the new generation versions of the Innova and Fortuner, sources in the know told Indian Autos Blog. In fact, the new Innova and Fortuner are expected to be revealed internationally this year, with an Indian debut at the 2016 Auto Expo in February being a high possibility.
Until the launch of the next gen Fortuner and Innova, TKM would retain interest levels on the current generation models by way of special editions and new variants.
