HMIL unveiled the next generation Hyundai Verna for India today in studio photos. The fifth generation Verna will replace the current model and will be launched on August 22, 2017. It is based on an all new platform accompanied by the addition of new features and new transmission options.
The new Verna dons Hyundai's new family face complete with the signature 'Cascading' grille design. It offers projector headlamps with LED daytime running lamps and the tail lights get LED graphics as well. There are 16-inch diamond cut alloys on offer. On the inside, the Verna comes with a new 7-inch touchscreen AVN with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a segment first ventilated seats, rear aircon vents, six airbags, automatic climate control and an electric sunroof.
The 2017 Hyundai Verna is built on a new 'K2' platform. Its 'Super Body Structure' comprises 50% Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS). Hyundai claims this helps lower NVH levels and improve safety and on-road performance.
The 1.6 L Gamma petrol and 1.6 L U2 CRDi diesel engines have been carried over from the outgoing model. They have a maximum power output of 123 PS and 128 PS respectively. Exact torque figures have not been revealed. Both engines will be offered with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options. As expected, Hyundai has ditched the older Verna's 4-speed AT.
