Introduced in September 2011, the Mahindra XUV500 will finally undergo a full model change next year. Road testing of the next-gen Mahindra XUV500 has begun, spy shots posted by MotorOctane have revealed.
The spy shots suggest that the next-gen Mahindra XUV500 will look drastically different, thanks to completely changed, more modern proportions. It will be bumper-to-bumper all-new. Unlike the old model, it should feature LED headlights and LED tail lights. A detail which is easily visible in the spy shots is that the rear quarter glass has reduced significantly in size, while the back glass appears to be slightly more raked for a more attractive stance.
Mahindra is likely clubbing the expertise of MNATC (USA), Pininfarina (Italy) and MRV (India) for the design and engineering to ready the next-generation XUV500. The all-new model will have a monocoque construction just like the current-gen model, but at the same time, it will sit on a newly built platform. This platform will be used by Ford also for a new C-SUV developed especially for India. The all-new XUV500 will employ a newly developed 180 PS 2.0-litre diesel engine.
