India Yamaha Motor has sent out invites for a press conference next month. The company has not revealed details about the upcoming product, but the invite reads ‘Get ready to have your heart racing and experience a rush of Adrenaline and Excitement’.
So what should you expect to see from the Indian arm of the Japanese two-wheeler brand? It’s too early for the 2019 Yamaha YZF-R3 to arrive in India as we would most likely see a few test mules before the bike is launched here.
Meanwhile, Yamaha's YZF-R15 V3.0, FZ25 and the Fazer-25 are yet to receive the safety net of ABS that will become a norm from 1 April, 2019. Thus, there is a good chance that we may see the three product actions on January 21.
A report from earlier this month claimed that Yamaha may introduce Bluetooth-enabled instrument clusters in India. However, that feature is not likely to arrive before the BS-VI upgrade in 2020.
The Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 was launched in India in February 2018, during the Auto Expo. The motorcycle is yet to receive the safety net of ABS.
It is not certain whether the motorcycles will arrive with a single-channel ABS or a dual-channel unit. The inclusion of ABS would see a rise of INR 15,000-25,000 in the ex-showroom price. For reference, the current Yamaha YZF-R15 V3.0 retails for INR 1.27 lakh (ex-showroom). The FZ25 retails for INR 1.19 lakh (ex-showroom) while the Fazer-25 is available for INR 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom).
