V40 gets segment-first pedestrian airbag as standard.
Volvo Cars has launched the new Volvo V40 and Volvo V40 Cross Country (facelift) in India, priced at INR 25.49 lakhs and INR 27.2 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi), respectively. The new V40 is available in two variants: D3 R-Design and D3 Kinetic, while the new V40 CC comes in D3 Inscription and D3 Momentum (on order basis) variants.
Since a next gen Volvo V40 is a couple of years away, Volvo decided to put the fan-favourite Thor hammer LED headlamps in the V40 facelift, which were exclusive to the 90 series so far. Both models also get new grille patterns, new alloy rim designs, and new color options (Denim Blue and Amazon Blue).
Inside, the new V40 comes with three new seat upholstery options, frameless IRVM with automatic dimming, optional panoramic glass roof, and an updated infotainment system. Apart from the usual list of airbags, ABS, stability and traction controls, the V40 and V40 CC feature a segment-first pedestrian airbag as standard across the range.
Under the hood, D3 variants of the V40 and V40 Cross Country are powered by a 150 hp 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cyl Drive-E diesel motor paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. It produces 150 hp and 320 Nm of torque that is sent to the front wheels.
