Gets an electric starter and a few styling tweaks.
The new Bajaj Platina ES seems to be the first of the 6 launches planned by the company in the next six months. The Platina ES gets a slew of mechanical changes, but what is more interesting is the fuel efficiency Bajaj claims - 96.9 km/l - just a few shy of 100 km/l, which is tough to match by other manufacturers' offerings.
The new Platina uses the Discover 100M’s 102 cc engine, that has been detuned only slightly for giving better milage figures. While the Discover 100M produces slightly more power and torque in the range of 9.3 PS and 9.02 Nm respectively and gives 84 km/l fuel efficiency, the new Platina ES is not so far behind by providing a decent 8.2 PS and 8.7 Nm of torque, yet finding the topmost spot in terms of fuel efficiency.
Apart from the changes in the engine, the new Platina ES as the name suggests, gets an electric starter alongside the standard kick starter. In terms of overall design, not much has changed, although it receives new side panels, brighter graphics and a slightly tweaked exhaust.

The new Platina is currently on its way to dealerships and would be available for sale at an ex-showroom (Delhi) price of Rs 44,507. The first in line of the new 2015 motorcycles launched by Bajaj, the new Platina ES is sure to hit a sweet spot with the eco-commuters of the country with its impressive efficiency.
