Bajaj has expanded its twin-spark technology to the Discover family with the launch of the new Discover 125 a few days ago, priced at Rs 48,000 (Ex-showroom, New Delhi).
The new bike gets a 124.6 cc twin-spark DTS-i engine that makes 11.5 hp at 8,000 rpm and produces peak torque of 10.8 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The bike carries a four-speed gearbox and competes in the economy side of the segment against the likes of the Honda Shine, Hero Passion Pro, Hero Glamour etc.
The company claims an internally tested top-speed of 100 kph for the bike and promises a mileage of 76 kmpl.
While 130 mm drum brakes are available at both ends, a 200 mm disc brake is also available as an option on the front. The front of the bike gets a telescopic suspension set up and the rear sees a gas-charged Nitrox twin spring set up.
Colour options for the new bike includes electron blue, wine red, charcoal magenta, charcoal green, silver blue and silver gold.
Bajaj has been keen on bringing a differentiation to the segments it operates in, with the Discover family especially. The 100 cc Discover sees a Discover M, a more powerful Discover T apart from the regular Discover 100 cc. Even in the 125 cc segment, the company sells the new Discover that makes 11.5 hp, the Discover 125 T that makes 12.5 hp and the most powerful of the lot, the Discover ST making 13 hp.
