After the Hector in the second quarter (April-June), MG will launch the EZS in India as its second product in the country. According to a new report from The Times of India, the second SUV will arrive around October this year.
The MG EZS is the pure electric variant of the MG ZS, which is one of the several models SAIC is testing in India. It was introduced at the 2018 Guangzhou Auto Show in November. It uses an electric motor that generates 110 kW and 350 Nm of torque and draws energy from a 44.5 kWh battery pack.
The MG EZS can accelerate from 0-50 km/h in 3.1 seconds. Its battery takes six hours for a full charge using an AC charger. Using a DC charger, charging to 80% capacity takes 30 minutes. On a full charge, the pure electric SUV offers a driving range (NEDC) of 335 km.
According to a new report from Overdrive, India will get the MG EZS as a CBU import from China. 250 units are planned for import at the moment. The TOI report says that the zero-emission SUV is likely to cost nearly INR 20 lakh in our market.

Before the MG EZS, the Hyundai Kona Electric will go on sale in India, in July. The South Korean offering is also a B-segment battery-powered SUV, but it’s a much more premium product, targeted especially at developed markets. In the luxury class, Audi is working on advancing the e-tron electric SUV’s launch to this year, while Mercedes-Benz is considering launching the EQC by the year-end.
